DGL Week 2 Recap: Nick Shreds PGA West as the Field Heats Up in the Desert

The Dream Golf League left the winds of Waialae behind and headed to the desert for Week 2 at the PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course in La Quinta, California. Known for its wide landing areas, deep bunkers, and greens that demand precision, the Nicklaus layout rewarded bold play and punished hesitation. The result was a dramatic scoring correction across the league and several early‑season statement rounds.

A Division: Nick Goes Nuclear, John and Todd Keep Pace

Week 2 belonged to Nick. His 63 was the round of the season so far and one of the most dominant performances in recent DGL memory. Ten birdies, twelve greens, twelve fairways. He dismantled PGA West with total control.

John wasn’t far behind, firing a spectacular 67 that included two eagles, the only ones recorded this week. Todd added a brilliant 68, rolling in seven birdies and showing he’s ready to contend.

Phil and Richard each posted strong 69s, while Terence stayed sharp with a 70. Matt T added a clean 73, keeping the top of the division stacked with firepower.

A Division takeaway:   Nick is the early frontrunner, but this division is loaded. Five players broke 70 and the season already feels like a heavyweight fight.

B Division: Julian and Victor Shine, Vince Stays Hot

Division B saw its own fireworks.

Victor led the way with a smooth 74, one of the best rounds across the entire league. Julian followed closely with a 75, backed by four birdies and seven GIR.

Brad posted a steady 77, while Owen delivered a strong 78 that included an eagle. Vince and Mitch both carded 79, keeping themselves firmly in the mix.

Ryan B added an 82, and Brendan stayed competitive with an 84.

B Division takeaway:   No clear leader yet. Victor and Julian made big moves, but this division looks like it will shuffle every single week.

C Division: Jean Luc Leads the Charge, Bjorn Breaks Out

Division C rebounded sharply from Waialae’s brutality.

Jean Luc delivered the low round of the division with a composed 83, showing control off the tee and steady approach play. It was the kind of round that sets the tone for a season.

Bjorn followed with a strong 85, one of the most improved performances of the week. Ryan T and Richie matched each other at 86, both showing consistency and confidence.

Kevin and Tim posted matching 87s, while Bhavika added an 88. Jeff, Ravi, and Mark rounded out the division between 89 and 100.

C Division takeaway:   Jean Luc leads early, but Bjorn, Richie, and Ryan T are right behind him. This division is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in the league.

D Division: Ryan A Leads the Way as the Field Stays Tight

Division D delivered another gritty, tightly packed leaderboard in Week 2, and this time Ryan A rose to the top with a sharp 88. Ten fairways hit kept him in control all round and gave him the edge in a division where every stroke matters.

Right behind him, Daren posted a 91, showing steady improvement. Marc and Corey matched each other at 92, keeping themselves firmly in the early‑season hunt. Matt C added a 94, while Brenden S and Ed rounded out the group with 97 and 100.

D Division takeaway:   Ryan A holds the early edge, but the entire division is separated by only a handful of strokes. This group is unpredictable and primed for big weekly swings.

Final Word

PGA West rewarded aggression and punished anything timid. Nick’s 63 was the headline, but the story of Week 2 was the league‑wide scoring surge. With two weeks in the books, the season already feels fast, competitive, and full of emerging storylines.
