DGL Week 6 Recap: John Survives the Bear Trap as PGA National Punishes the Field
PGA National is famous for one thing: exposing weaknesses. The Bear Trap, the wind, the water, the elevated greens, the narrow landing areas. This course doesn’t reward good golf. It demands great golf. And in Week 6, only a handful of players managed to keep their rounds under control.
A Division: John Outlasts the Course, Nick and Phil Grind Out Top Finishes
A Division once again showed why it’s the league’s top tier.
John delivered the round of the week with a gritty 71, powered by:
6 birdies
8 greens in regulation
288‑yard LD
He didn’t dominate PGA National. He survived it, and that was enough to beat the entire field.
Nick followed with a strong 73, hitting 10 greens and 7 fairways, one of the cleanest ball‑striking rounds of the day.
Phil and Terence both posted 74, each with 5 and 3 birdies respectively.
Phil’s 9 fairways were especially impressive on a course where most players struggled to find even half that.
Chris and Matt T added matching 77s, keeping themselves in the mix.
A Division takeaway:
John takes the week, but Nick and Phil showed elite control. PGA National separated the top tier from everyone else.
B Division: A Three‑Way Tie at 81 as the Course Levels the Field
B Division didn’t produce a breakout round this week, but it did produce a tight cluster of survivors.
Julian, Victor, and Brad all posted 81, tying for the low B‑Division score.
Julian: 6 fairways, 6 greens
Victor: 8 greens, 2 fairways
Brad: 6 greens, 4 fairways
Each of them had moments of brilliance, but PGA National punished every mistake.
Mitch followed with an 82, while Owen, Will, Carlos, and Vince finished between 83 and 86.
Brendan rounded out the division with an 89.
B Division takeaway:
No one conquered PGA National. The best anyone could do was hang on.
C Division: Tim Leads the Way, but the Course Hits Hard
C Division had a rough week, but a few players managed to keep things respectable.
Tim posted the low round of the division with an 84, backed by:
3 birdies
6 greens
8 fairways
This was one of the most quietly impressive rounds of the entire week.
Ryan T followed with an 87, while Jean Luc and Ryan A both posted 91s.
Richie, Bjorn, Jeff, and Bhavika all finished between 93 and 99, with PGA National’s greens proving especially punishing.
C Division takeaway:
Tim takes the week, but the division as a whole struggled. PGA National exposed every weakness.
D Division: Ravi and Marc Lead the Charge in a Brutal Week
Division D saw some of its toughest scoring of the season.
Ravi, Todd (A), and Mitch (B) all posted 82, but among D‑Division players, Ravi takes the week.
Marc followed with a solid 86, showing steady control.
Brenden S added an 88, while Mark, Matt C, Kelvin, Daren, Corey, and
Ed all finished between 94 and 96.
This was a survival test, and only a few players passed.
D Division takeaway:
Ravi takes the week, but the division was hammered by PGA National. Expect a rebound next week.
Final Word
PGA National delivered exactly what it’s known for: chaos, carnage, and separation. John’s 71 was the headline, but across all divisions, this was the toughest scoring environment of the season.
